A few hours ago, I saw a flock of ducks flying outside my balcony in near perfect V-formation, and what was the first thing I thought of?
Yuuuup.
The damn Flying V from The Mighty Ducks movies.
Bwahahahah.
Ah, the legacy of 90s kids movies!
Those who know me well know that I was virtually OBSESSED with these movies after discovering them late 1995 -- or if they don't know me well, they happened upon this post about Pacey/Joshua/Charlie, hahah.
Thing is, though?
Even now, at 27, I can totally watch the Mighty Ducks trilogy -- it still gives me the warm fuzzies (what can I say, I'm a sucker for schmaltzy, mawkish fare) and, hell, sometimes it even gets me misty-eyed. (Shut up! Bwahahah.) But seriously! I mean, case in point: the following scene. Joshua Jackson always killed it in DC as Pacey, and he did it when he was younger in the Ducks. No wonder I "fell in luuuurrrrve" with him when I was eleven.
(This scene, though a little cheesy, probably makes the whole D3: The Mighty Ducks movie, which is a little on the lame side.) (...no duh.)
Waaaaaaahhhhhhh. Sniff! And the tinkly piano score of "Growing Up Can Suck But Also Be Inspirational and Shit" doesn't help. (Stupid manipulative film scores!)
Josh is one of the best criers, hands down. (How do actors DO that?! Seriously.)
So, tell me, how many of you also loved the Ducks?
(I am sooooooooo doing snarky recaps of the trilogy!)
I've been feeling nostalgic this past week too... it's weird :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, this was one of my favorite movies in the 90's! LOVE THIS!!!

I don't know about you but the V formation that birds so always seems to amaze me. Do you think they argue over who gets to lead the pack? All jokes aside, that movie is one of my favorites from being a wee one!

Oh this requires capitals: I LOVE THE MIGHTY DUCKS MOVIES! The first two were watched the day of my first kiss (which was awful and painfully memorable). And now Pacey/Joshua/Charlie dates an absolutely gorgeous lady. Good for him I say.
ReplyDeleteI must be the only person in the world who has NOT seen this movie. Which is pretty insane, really, because I love Pacey and everything I've ever seen him in (which might only consist of every episode of DC but MY GAWD! He's droolworthy, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteThis scene pulled at my heartstrings. And I loved the flying V. I guess I know what's next in line for my movie night :)
