I'm gonna sing (sing), sing (sing), si-i-ing...!

In honour of tonight's grand final of The Voice (Australia), I hereby share with you my own voice.

("AGAIN?!" I hear you screech.)

(Bwah!)

My irrepressible love for -- and love affair with -- music has been relatively well documented on this here blog.  (I sang before I spoke, pretty much.)  If you've read me for any length of time, you would have read about it here (where I posted my first video) and here, but if you missed those two posts at least check out the first link so that I can avoid rehashing my singing history, heh heh.

'Cause I'm lazy like that.

Oh hey, how did this get here?!  Heh heh.  This is five-year-old me in 1990, singing my solo song "We love mama the most" (bwah!) in the Karlovac children's choir "Cicibani" (pronounced Tzee-tzee-bah-nee, and meaning "Little tykes").  Check out those bangin' Puma sneakers, hahah!

Aaaaanyway, I recorded the below circa February/March.  I sing snippets of the following songs:

  • Don't Cry for Louie (Vaya Con Dios)
  • I'm Every Woman (Whitney Houston)
  • Ain't No Sunshine (Bill Withers / Eva Cassidy)
  • Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Diana Ross / Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell)
  • What's Up (4 Non Blondes)
  • Rolling in the Deep (Adele)
  • Turning Tables (Adele)

Come for the periodic lyrical flubbage, stay for the inadvertently creepy blurry video (what the hell, iPhone!) and the unintentionally awkward pensive pauses and fidgeting between some songs!

Here's the vid:

My medley on Vimeo

I can't embed Vimeo for some stupid reason; it only gives YouTube as an embedding option, so this link will have to do for now (and the embedding HTML from Vimeo refuses to work in this template, drat!).

Y'all let me know how you like it (...if you like it, heh).

As for how I feel about music?

Music haunts me in the very best way and makes me feel like I'm hopped up on celestial candy and bewitches me to the point where I lie back utterly entranced and gape at it; and surges through me like deliciously frenetic currents; and flat-out knocks me out and slams me to the ground with its mind-boggling splendour; and makes me pine for it even while I'm completely submerged in it; and makes me feel alive to the millionth power, makes me wanna dance movie-style down a pretty street.

And, well, all of that hyperbole is me putting it mildly.  Ha!

  1. Due to my incredibly lame and super slow internet, I won't be able to watch your video (which I'm sure is spectacular) for another ten days. But you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be watching it then!! <3

    1. Aw...! Thanks so much, dearie. You're too much! As for why I'm not auditioning...I'm too much of a chicken? I don't wanna be on TV? I don't know. Who knows, maybe I bite the bullet and decide to audition for next year's show, heh. Thank you again for your words!

  5. Your voice is really amazing. Especially love your rendition of I'm every woman (which somehow got to be one of my secret favorite songs).
